6-foot gator found inside garage

HOUSTON – A 6-foot alligator made its self at home inside a garage in The Heights.

Texas Parks and Wildlife experts said gators are on the move because of the recent rain in the Houston area. When the water levels in the bayous and rivers get high, the gators get out.

Dustee Gutierrez made the shocking discovery in her neighborhood and snapped a picture of the reptile just hanging out in a garage.

"It actually walked from the bayou all the way over here into this garage behind me, by my house," she said.

A game warden removed the reptile. The gator was then taken to some marshland and released as far away from people as possible.

Wardens said if a person ever sees an alligator near their home, it's best to contact them, so someone can come and safely remove it.
