A 5-year-old girl was taken to a Houston hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire at a southwest Houston apartment complex.
The Houston Fire Department said the fire began around 6:15 p.m. Saturday at the Falls of Westpark at the Southwest Freeway and Westpark.
The fire spread to three units and others were damaged by smoke, displacing about two dozen residents.
After hearing screaming, a passerby broke a window in order to get the child out of an apartment.
Firefighters said the girl was reportedly in good condition.
