HOUSTON -- A missing teenager showed up at his mother's home in northwest Houston early Monday, more than two weeks after he disappeared.
John Tanner Jr., 16, was found lying outside his mother's front door at about midnight, officials said. His clothes were torn and he appeared to have been beaten. Tanner was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.
Tanner had been missing since Dec. 18 after leaving Westside Baptist Church, located at 9300 Hammerly.
He told his mother he was at a friend's house, but that is under investigation.
Texas EquuSearch volunteers helped search for the boy.
