HOUSTON -- Some dog owners are thinking twice about grooming their pets at a popular store after a man's dog vanished without a trace, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday. On Wednesday, Robin Barrow and his fiancée took their 2-year-old miniature poodle, Phoebe, along with a terrier to the PetSmart on the Katy Freeway and Beltway 8 to get them groomed.
When Barrow came back five hours later, Phoebe was gone.Store employees said someone else claimed to be Barrow's fiancée and said her sister would be picking up the dog.Barrow told KPRC Local 2 that he is considering legal action."Somebody got duped. We all did but I think because of how the information came around, and the names that were used and things of that nature, I think there's a real reason to believe that it was all done from inside that store," Barrow said.Officials with PetSmart said they are investigating the incident.
