Radio Station's HOV-Lane Stunt Backfires

METRO Officer Tickets Driver For Violating HOV Lanes Restrictions

POSTED: Tuesday, November 15, 2005

A Houston radio station's stunt testing high-occupancy vehicle lane restrictions didn't go as planned Tuesday morning.

An employee of KKRW 93.7 The Arrow placed a mannequin in the passenger seat of his vehicle and drove in the Katy Freeway HOV lane during Tuesday morning's rush hour.

A METRO officer spotted him and pulled him over near Post Oak Boulevard at about 7:30 a.m.

In the end, the officers ticketed the driver for violating the three-person rule of the HOV lane.

On the air, deejays said they were just testing the system.
