Driver Says He Did Not See Rider In Time To Stop

HOUSTON -- A deadly accident in north Harris County claimed the life of a bicyclist Tuesday morning.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Department said a man was riding his bike on East Hardy Road near WW Thorne Drive shortly after midnight when a pickup truck struck and killed him.

The truck's driver told authorities he did not see the rider in time to stop.

Investigators also believe the cyclist did not hear the truck coming because he was listening to headphones.

Authorities do not expect to file charges against the driver.
