HOUSTON -- Houstonians have heard over and over again that they need to get gas, plywood and generators to prepare for the storm. However, supplies were hard to find Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Items going fast included water, batteries, flashlights, duct tape, plywood and generators, but the store manager of The Home Depot at the 610 North Loop near North Shepherd Drive said the store would be replenished within several hours of running out of supplies.
KPRC Local 2 reported that the store had plywood, but only the expensive kind -- it runs about $45 per pound and is not what people typically use to board up doors and windows during a storm.
Store management said people looking for hurricane supplies should call the store before driving there to see if the supplies they are looking for are in stock.
Items that should be included in a disaster supply kit are:
Bottled water Canned food, juice First Aid Kit Battery-operated radio Flashlights extra batteries Manual can opener
