5-year-old dropped off at wrong bus stop
Got ride home from a stranger, says mom
A Houston mom is upset after her 5-year-old son was dropped off at the wrong bus stop and ended up getting a ride home with a stranger.
"He was in a car with somebody I don't know, I still don't know," said Terri Charpentier.
Charpentier's son usually gets dropped off by the bus right in front of their home on Reeveston Road in northeast Harris County.
Charpentier thinks the bus driver blamed the mix up on some road construction. Instead, her 5-year-old wound up about a half-mile from where he was supposed to be.
Another woman, who was waiting for her child to get off the bus, gave Charpentier's son a ride home along with their 8-year-old neighbor.
"I don't think it was right to give my child to someone I don't know," she said.
Charpentier also has concerns about where her son was left.
"It's a busy road. There are 18-wheelers up and down here all the time," said Charpentier.
The Aldine Independent School District admits the driver made a mistake and said disciplinary action had been taken.
This is the second incident in one week where an Aldine ISD driver is accused of dropping students off at the wrong location. On Monday, a driver allegedly left a bus load of students ten miles away from their stop.
The district said it is investigating.
