HOUSTON - Five people, including a 13-year-old, were injured in a head-on collision in northwest Houston early Tuesday morning.
"It was a major, major crash," one witness said.
It happened around 12:30 near the intersection of Victory Drive and West Montgomery Road.
Police said one driver turning left onto Victory failed to yield to another car and slammed into it.
"We heard this loud 'boom', and my wife thought a gun was shot," a witness said. "I rushed out [...], and it look[ed] like a head-on collision."
Both the Houston Fire Department and the Houston Police Department quickly responded to the scene and found all five occupants of both vehicles suffering from various injuries.
"Both drivers and all the occupants of each vehicle were transported to the hospital," said Sgt. J.D. Rossman with HPD.
According to police, all of the injuries are non life-threatening.
So far no charges have been filed, but Sgt. Rossman said officers believe the driver who caused the crash was intoxicated at the time, and they tested him for alcohol at the hospital:
"Pending the blood draw results, there could be possible [DWI] charges."
