HOUSTON -

One person is dead after a series of crashes that caused several cars to burst into flames.

 The five-car pileup happened  at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of FM 1960 and Farrell Drive.

At least three of the cars burst into flames during the crash.

Deputies say the cars were traveling westbound on FM 1960 when a sedan hit one of the cars, causing the pileup.

One woman died at the scene and three others were taken to hospitals in the area in unknown conditions.

As of 7 a.m on Sunday, the inbound lanes remain closed on FM 1960.
