5 accused of stealing from several Walmart stores

Walmart's employee ranks are up to almost 2.1 million people... that's almost as much as the population of Houston, TX, the 4th largest city in the United States.

TOMBALL, Texas – Five people are accused of stealing from several Walmart stores.

Tomball police said the Walmart store in the 27600 block of Tomball reported that merchandise had been taken from the store about 4:30 p.m. on June 20.

Store employees gave police a description of the suspects and their getaway vehicle.

Police said they stopped the car and found Stephanie Chavez, Deann Drab, Matilda Vargas, Brandy Hernandez and Randall Contreras inside. They were all arrested.

Detectives said merchandise stolen from several Walmart stores was also recovered.

All five suspects were charged with organized retail theft. Bonds for Contreras, Drab, Hernandez and Vargas were set at $5,000. Chavez's bond was set at $10,000.

Investigators said they have linked all five to a large theft ring that has been operating for more than two years.
