Group Of Gunmen Gun Down Man Washing SUV

Anyone With Information About Shooting Should Call Crime Stoppers

POSTED: Thursday, September 15, 2005
UPDATED: 8:59 am CDT September 15, 2005

Police are searching for a group of gunmen who chased and shot a man at a northwest Houston car wash Thursday morning, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Officers with the Houston Police Department said four men approached and possibly tried to rob the 45-year-old victim as he washed his sport utility vehicle at the U.S. Auto Wash, a quarter car-wash facility on West Tidwell Road at Langfield Road, shortly after 1 a.m.

Another driver who pulled into the car wash found the victim lying in a wash bay badly injured.

The man was shot in the leg, and as he attempted to run away, the gunmen shot him in the back of the head.

Paramedics rushed the man to Ben Taub Hospital. His condition has not been released.

Authorities said there were no witnesses to the shooting and that they do not have a description of the gunmen or a vehicle the shooters might have fled in.

An employee at a nearby business told KPRC Local 2 that it is not uncommon for people to wash vehicles late at night.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS.
