HOUSTON -- E-mail is great form of communication, but don't believe everything you read about life inside and around the Astrodome, Local 2 reported Friday.
FalseOne e-mail circulating refers to someone being raped inside the Astrodome.
Harris County spokesman Gloria Roemer said the Command Center has not received any reports of sexual assaults at the dome.
FalseAnother common e-mail says that carjackings, lootings and vandalism have occurred in the Astrodome area.
The Houston Police Department said it has not received more than the usual calls from that area.
Possibly TrueAnother e-mail warns that convicts were included with the Superdome evacuees.
Roemer said the Command Center was told 100 prisoners might be among those evacuated.
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said it heard that inmates from the New Orleans city jail were the ones released, which would mean they were serving time on misdemeanor and not felony charges.
Where Is Osteen?Local 2 has received numerous e-mails wondering where
Joel Osteen of
Lakewood Church has been during the recovery.
Spokesman don Iloff said Osteen had an event in Atlanta, where he raised $70,000 last night, and he has another event tonight. He will return to Houston Saturday.
Iloff said 100 percent of the money Osteen raised would be given to the Astrodome Recovery Project.
