Officials Want Better Ways To Use HOV Lanes, Expand Transit Service

HOUSTON -- Houston Mayor Bill White and U.S. Rep. Ted Poe took a helicopter tour of the Kingwood area after receiving numerous complaints about increased traffic troubles.

White said one of the biggest problems he noticed was congestion on the feeder roads to Highway 59.

"Something is wrong when you have a whole bunch of people jammed up on the feeder road while the freeway is running pretty freely," White said.

White and officials are also looking at ways to better utilize the high-occupancy vehicle lanes and expand METRO bus and rail services.
