SUGAR LAND, Texas -- A woman was arrested and charged with a Sugar Land bank robbery and authorities suspect her of committing several more, officials told Local 2 Tuesday.
Police charged Carlene Thomas, 28, with aggravated robbery. Investigators said Thomas robbed the Comerica Bank, located at One Sugar Creek Center, by presenting a note to a teller demanding money. The teller complied and Thomas fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash, officials said. A weapon was not displayed.
A witness in the bank gave police the license plate number of the suspect's vehicle.
Thomas was arrested at her home Monday and police said they found some of the stolen money in her possession.
If convicted of the first-degree felony, Thomas faces a punishment between five and 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
Thomas is also a suspect in several Houston-area bank robberies, officials said, but she has not yet been charged.
