HOUSTON -- Houston firefighters rejected the latest contract proposal by the city Friday afternoon, Local 2 reported.
Union members voted down the plan, which would have given firefighters a 34 percent pay hike over the next four years. But, in exchange, firefighters would have had to work 2.3 more hours each week.
The firefighter contract would have cost $18 million the first year, and was subject to approval by Houston City Council.
Houston firefighters have gone more than five years without a pay raise.
