Police: Couple Ran After Stealing Purse From Pearland Wal-Mart
Officials arrested the man and a woman, accusing them of stealing a purse from a Pearland Wal-Mart and leading police on a chase.After abandoning their van on Highway 288 between Orem Drive and Airport Boulevard, the couple tried to flee on foot, police said.However, a patrol unit ran over the man as he ran through a field near a Houston Community College campus.Despite being run over, the suspect only received a scrape on his knee.During the chase, police said the man tried to hit other cars with the van as a way to make police stop.Police have not said what charges the suspects could face.Copyright 2005 by Click2Houston.com.
