HOUSTON -- A man who was both a law enforcement officer and a Houston firefighter was caught on the wrong side of the law, Local 2 reported Wednesday.Border Patrol agents in the south Texas town of Progresso said they found close to $12,000 worth of steroids and barbiturates inside Luis Bernal's car during a stop at a border check point.Bernal, who is also a Harris County Precinct 6 Reserved Deputy Constable, was arrested after Border Patrol agents found $11,750 worth of anabolic steroids and assorted prescription drugs in a wooden chest in his truck.
Bernal has since been relieved of duty from the Houston Fire Department and the Harris County Precinct 6 Constable's Office pending the outcome of a federal investigation.
