Husband, Wife Shot During Home Invasion
Gunmen Escape
Two young men knocked on the door of a home in the 7900 block of Belterraza Court in the Mission Bend subdivision at 2 p.m., asking for directions. They then forced their way inside."I think they were trying to rob the house and then they pulled out the gun and shot my dad in the thigh and my mom because they were right next to each other," said Joel John, the victims' son.The robbers fired three to five shots, as they demanded money. The victims are hospitalized in stable condition with gunshot wounds to the legs. A daughter in the home was not injured.John believes his father tried to chase the gunmen."I see chunks of blood (on the street), so I’m guessing that my dad came out running to get to him, but the blood stopped there," John said. The gunmen, described as 17 to 19 years old, escaped in a blue or black compact car. Nothing appeared to be stolen."This is a different (method of operation) than what some of the driveway robberies we've had in the area. We don't know at this time whether it's going to be related to those or not," said Sgt. Bryan Pair, with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. The male victim is a pastor at the Sharon Fellowship Church of Houston, according to his son.Copyright 2005 by Click2Houston.com.
