More than a dozen dogs were rescued Wednesday from deplorable living conditions at an abandoned Liberty County home, Local 2 reported.

The Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals rescued 22 dogs outside an abandoned home in Dayton.

Investigators said the dogs were found chained up without food and only filthy water to drink.

The dogs are now receiving treatment for malnutrition, severe hair loss, tumors and leg injuries.

So far, no charges have been filed against their owner.
