4 men attack man in driveway

HOUSTON – Deputies are searching for four men involved in an armed robbery in northwest Harris County home Friday morning.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said the attack happened in the 1400 block of Bodart near Ella in the Ponderosa Forest subdivision about 9:40 a.m.

One of the thieves was armed with a weapon, investigators said.

"Their car came up, parked behind me and four guys jumped out with masks and guns and ordered me into the house," said the homeowner, who requested not to be identified.

The homeowner said the men threatened to kill his dog when she started barking.

"He said he was going to kill her and I said, 'Come one, she's just a dog. Let me put her in the back yard,'" the homeowner said.

The robbers took the homeowner's cash, three rifles and three pistols, detectives said. The men dropped a gun case, which contained shotguns, on the curb, officials said.

"There has been an increase in home invasions, burglaries, shootings ... the whole gamut," Ponderosa Fire Department Chief Fred Windlisch said.

Windlisch said he recently bought a gun that he and his wife are learning how to shooting.

"We've never done that, but it gets to a point that we have to do something," he said.

Descriptions of the robbers have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
