The incident was reported at 10:41 a.m. Sunday and took authorities several hours to clear the wreckage.

A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper said the driver of the 18-wheeler was driving at an "unsafe speed" for the road conditions on an overpass. DPS officials said the truck driver struck the inside barrier and then jackknifed on the right shoulder of the freeway.

Officials said the 18-wheeler's rear tires were hanging over the Freeport street, but was not in danger of falling into the roadway's underpass below.

There were no injuries reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
