4 children, 5 adults escape mobile home fire in Conroe

CONROE, Texas – Nine people escaped an early morning mobile home fire Monday, including four children less than 10 years old.

Firefighters were called around 3 a.m. to the fire in the 100 block of Orion Drive in Conroe. One of the people living in the home found a hot breaker and removed it, investigators said. About 30 minutes later, his roommate kicked in his door and told him the house was on fire.

Firefighters said four children and five adults ran out of the house and into the cold wearing nothing but underwear. Two pit bulls were also rescued safely.

There were no working smoke detectors in the rental property, investigators said.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
