4 arrested in bank robbery

Wells Fargo Bank near downtown Houston held up Wednesday

HOUSTON – Four men robbed a bank near downtown Houston on Wednesday and were caught a short time later, police said.

Houston police said the armed men walked into the Wells Fargo Bank in the 2700 block of Fulton and demanded cash about 9:45 a.m.

Witnesses said the men forced everyone inside the bank to get on the ground. Customer Maria Tenerio said the men just wanted money from the tellers, not from the customers.

Tenerio said she was not hurt, but she said one of the robbers pushed an employee to the ground before taking off with the cash.

The men left the bank in a Chevrolet Impala, which officers caught up with about two blocks away, police said.

The men were taken into custody. Their names have not been released.
