3rd suspect arrested, charged in Aug. shooting death of Houston man

HOUSTON – A third suspect wanted for the shooting death of a Houston man has been arrested and charged.

Houston police said 22-year-old Mateo Conoz Ixtan, 18-year-old Jesus Francisco Morales and another teen are in custody.

Police said on the evening ofAugust 25, the victim, identified as 33-year-old Carlos Morales, and Jesus Francisco Morales got into an argument in front of a convenience store in the 10400 block of West Bellfort.

According to police, a third person gave a gun to Jesus Morales, who then shot the victim several times before running off.

Carlos Morales was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

Jesus Morales and the victim are not related.

Investigators said Morales voluntarily turned himself in to police and admitted his involvement in the shooting on September 7.

Ixtan was arrested on October 10. Both Ixtan and Morales are charged with murder. The third suspect was also arrested and referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities for his role in the shooting.
