Lara was taken into custody by Walker County investigators and members of the Houston Police Department's Major Offenders Unit in the 6100 Block of Dashwood Street.

Lara, along with 17-year-old Jose Leonel Bonilla-Romero and 22-year-old Christian Zamora who are already in custody, are charged with murder.

The Walker County Sheriff's Office said the 16-year-old Guevara died from blunt force trauma and that his body was badly mutilated with a machete. The victim's Klein Forest ID card was found at the scene, as well as another piece of evidence that investigators said led them to the suspect's vehicle.

Bond for Lara was set at $1 million.
