HOUSTON -- An elementary school coach was arrested and charged in connection with the sexual assault of an 8-year-old female student, Local 2 reported Friday.
Kenneth Wegner was working at Barbara Jordan Elementary School, 17800 West Oak Village, in the Fort Bend Independent School District, when a student told her parents Monday that he touched her inappropriately.
Wegner, 48, was arrested Thursday night and charged with one count of indecency with a child.
"I'm glad they caught him. I hope he gets what he deserves," said the girl's father, who wanted to remain anonymous. "It makes me very angry. A grown man doing this to an 8-year-old baby."
"His method of operation was -- he would isolate himself with the child, away from the view of the other faculty members or students, and work on building up her confidence in him by things he was saying to her. And while doing so, he would subsequently be fondling her on the outside and the inside of her clothing," said Chief J.L. Campbell, with the Fort Bend ISD Police Department.
Police said there appears to be more victims.

"Unfortunately, during this investigation, we've had three other children come forward and make similar allegations against the same coach," Campbell said.
More charges could be filed.
The girl's father is proud of his daughter's bravery.
"She did a good thing. She might have saved other kids from going through the same thing," he said.
Wegner was placed on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of the investigation.
He remained jailed on a $500,000 bond.
