LEAGUE CITY, Texas - Four unsuspecting shoppers became crime victims over the weekend while grocery shopping in League City.
Police said two women had their wallets stolen at the Kroger store on the Gulf Freeway, while another woman was hit at the nearby HEB, and a third victim was targeted at the Walmart store at 2955 Gulf Freeway South.
All of the victims were between the ages of 60 and 80 and all of the purses were left unattended in the shopping cart.
Investigators told Local 2 the crooks work together -- one of them distracts the shopper by asking for help in locating an item in the store, while another steals the wallet.
League City police said the thieves are described as clean-cut black males in their mid 30s. They were seen on surveillance video leaving the area in a white van.
The stolen credit and debit cards were all used in the Clear Lake area.
Police are warning women not to leave anything attended in shopping carts and they suggest if you carry your purse on your shoulder to shorten the strap so no one can reach in and take the wallet out.
