3 wanted in Radio Shack robbery
Three men suspected of locking customers inside a West University Place electronics store while robbing it are being sought by police.
According to Crime Stoppers, three customers and two employees were locked inside the Radio Shack on the 5800 block of Kirby Dr. on July 22 by three men armed with guns.
"They terrorized these customers," Crime Stoppers Executive Director Katherine Cabaniss said. "In broad daylight, middle of the day, robbed the customers of their property and their jewelry and then fled out the backdoor."
Crime Stoppers hopes surveillance footage from the scene will help identify the men suspected of aggravated robbery.
The victims were ordered to the back of the store while they were robbed of their valuables, police said. While nobody was physically injured in the heist, the victims still suffer, Cabaniss said.
"People are traumatized," Cabaniss said. "These are violent dangerous criminals in our community. They need to be identified before something more tragic happens. It's one of those terrifying situations where people were just at work or going about their business during the day and suddenly they find themselves confronted by three gunmen."
