3 steal cell phones in washateria robbery

Robbers steal $10K in cell phones

HOUSTON – Surveillance video shows three robbers smashing display cases and stealing cell phones from a washateria in southeast Houston.

The robbery happened at In & Out C Store and Washateria, located at 8103 Creekbend Drive, about 1:50 p.m. Monday, according to Houston police. Several people, including children, were inside when it happened.

"Jumped on me, put a gun to my head," said Imran Hunani. "Told me to just, 'Get down, get down, give me all the money.'"

The owner of the store said the robbers took $200 cash and about 75 cell phones valued at over $10,000.

Hunani feared the robbery could put the store out of business.

"Someone's trying to feed their family. Working out there, working hard, and people just come in and take their stuff and take their money and take the food from their plates at that's not right," he said. "[It] should be stopped."

The robbers left the store in a white Chevy Impala with paper tags. A description of the robbers wasn't immediately released.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
