HOUSTON -

Police have arrested a group of people suspected to be responsible for up to 100 burglaries in upscale areas of Houston.

Houston police said they have tracked down some of the suspects, but there are likely more still on the loose.

Someone called police about 10:30 a.m. Friday to report a suspicious vehicle in the 5400 block of Fayette. Officers pulled the car over and detained three men inside.

Investigators said the men may be part of a group called the "Third Ward Burglars." According to sources, the burglars have hired accomplices off the streets to case homes.

Police have not said exactly which burglaries they think the men are connected to, but they could be responsible for burglaries and smash-and-grabs in the Galleria area and Tanglewood and Briargrove subdivisions.
