3 armed home invaders rob mother and young child

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Three men armed with guns are accused of breaking into and robbing a north Harris County home while a 5-year-old boy was home.

The boy's stepmother, who did not want to be identified, told Local 2 that she, her boyfriend and her stepson, 5, were at the home on Verde Trails Drive Wednesday afternoon when the doorbell rang. She said her boyfriend went outside to check who'd rang the ball when three masked gunmen crawled in through a window.

"We don't know," the woman said, when asked if she had any idea who the men were. "We just moved here."

The woman said one of the men used a gun to force her upstairs while another stayed downstairs with her 5-year-old stepson.

She said the men ransacked her home before running away with her cell phone and a few other belongings. She said no one was hurt.

"We're fine," she said. "The (boy) is fine."

The woman said her boyfriend spotted the suspects when they ran out and gave chase. She said he wasn't able to track them down. So far, neither have deputies.

The woman said her home had also been burglarized Sunday while her family was gone.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating.
