3-alarm fire destroys apartments, businesses

HOUSTON – A three-alarm fire destroyed a building that housed apartments and businesses in west Houston.

Firefighters were called to the complex shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday at 2724 Crossview Drive near Westheimer Road.

Officials said the fire started in a downstairs business, but quickly spread. Approximately 125 firefighters battled the flames.

When firefighters arrived, they were told a woman was trapped. However, no one was found during two checks.

A dozen apartments and businesses were destroyed by the flames. Fire officials said six businesses were housed in the downstairs units and the upstairs units were residential.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
