Investigators in Deputy Goforth murder case want Google account information

HOUSTON – Detectives investigating the murder of Deputy Darren Goforth have filed a new set of requests for information.

Investigators are hoping to look at Shannon Miles' cellphone, specifically his Google account.

Detectives are asking Google to reactivate Miles' account and provide a password reset so that investigators can go through it.

They believe that there could be stored information in the black Kyocera phone, photos or videos that could provide more information about the capital murder charge Miles is facing.

Google responded to deputies saying it's their policy to notify the user before such information is disclosed.

In addition to phone calls, video, pictures, search history and text messages, investigators are also looking for mapping information. The type of information that can pinpoint a person's location at a given date and time. Miles is charged with killing Deputy Darren Goforth at a service station in West Harris County Aug. 28.

The case is still under investigation.
