HOUSTON -- A man was stabbed to death with some type of sword Friday, police told News2Houston.

Masis Avanesian, 35, had an argument with another man when the man pulled out a swordlike weapon and slashed him numerous times, investigators said.

It happened around 1 a.m. in the 4800 block of Fannin at the entrance to a vacant building.

Avanesian was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where he later died.

The other man escaped the scene. The weapon was not found.

A motive is not known.
