Deputy Constable Hurt In Hit-And-Run Near Rodeo At Reliant Stadium

HOUSTON -- A Harris County Precinct One Deputy Constable was hit by a vehicle near Reliant Stadium on Thursday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Officials said the deputy constable was hit on Kirby Drive, near Westridge Street and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, at about 6 p.m.
Witnesses said it started with a traffic stop.
"The officer asked for his license and his insurance, and the driver just took off," Donald Akin said. "He jumped the curb right here, knocked over the cones. One of the officers, he attempted to reach in and grab the wheel or the keys or something but from there he was gone. It happened so quickly."
The deputy constable, whose name was not released, was taken to Methodist Hospital with a shoulder injury.
Police have not released a description of the vehicle.
