HOUSTON -- A 7-year-old was found with drugs at a southwest Houston elementary school on Thursday, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Houston Independent School District officials said the first-grade Foerster Elementary student had a minuscule amount of drugs about 10 a.m.
The investigation was turned over to the Houston Police Department. Investigators said the drug the child had was marijuana.
The student was suspended for three days, school district officials said. A note was sent home to parents to let them know about the incident.
"It lets you know that it's never too young to start talking about that," parent Sharesha Jones said. "They need to have DARE back at the school if they don't have that no more."
