COLDSPRING, Texas -- A former high school basketball coach has been arrested and charged with indecency with a child, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.
Coldspring-Oakhurst High School Coach Dennis Isbell, 39, was placed on administrative leave when the allegations surfaced last fall.
Investigators said Isbell was first arrested on March 3 and charged with having an improper relationship between an educator and student.
"Six months ago, we had an outcry from a young lady who alleged that she had an improper relationship with her coach, Coach Isbell. We launched a full-scale investigation and the evidence revealed at the time, he was having a relationship with a young lady that was currently attending school," Coldspring Police Chief Roosevelt Joseph said.
He bonded out.
However, on Tuesday, he was served with a felony warrant, and charged with indecency with a child and sexual contact.
He is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $50,000 bond.
Isbell resigned from the school in February. He had been with the district for approximately 15 years.
