HOUSTON -- A suspect leads Houston police on a 40-minute chase, swerving along five highways before he was caught, KPRC Local 2 reported.
The chase started near Cavalcade in northeast Houston.
Police said the suspect gave himself up after officers boxed him in at about 7 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of a Home Depot store along the Eastex Freeway at Little York.
According to police, the suspect was driving with a suspended license and allegedly was throwing drugs out of his pickup during the chase.
Some witnesses to the chase complimented HPD's handling of the pursuit.
"They took a lot of precautions for other people that were on the highway," witness Shamika Ferguson said. "It wasn't really fast it was slow and by then I think they put out the spike strips and really slowed down the process."
Police say there were no accidents and no injuries during the chase.
No word on what charges the suspect may face.
