A body discovered in the back yard of a northwest Harris County home is probably the owner's, who has been missing since Friday, authorities said.

The woman's body was discovered at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the home, 4422 Brookhead Trail, in northwest Harris County.

Harris County sheriff's detectives told News2Houston that the body was discovered by relatives of the homeowner and is believed to be that of Giuseppina M. Estrada, 58.

"Some of the family members came back and went into the back yard and saw where the earth had been disturbed and saw what they believe to be a shallow grave," Sgt. Jerry Prieto said.

Investigators dug underneath a fresh concrete slab near a storage shed and confirmed that a body was found, authorities said.

"The body was wrapped with an object," Prieto said. "We're not ready to release what (the body) was wrapped in, so we really can't look at the body and tell you if there's any kind of trauma or what in fact she may have died from."

The concrete grave was hidden under discarded doors from a recent remodeling job, along with sheets of metal and a wheelbarrow, sources told News2Houston. Giusippina Estrada

The body was removed and taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for identification and to determine cause of death, authorities said.

The next step, detectives said, was to talk to the woman's husband, Miguel Veras Gonzalez, 45, who returned to the home Friday and was arrested on a cocaine possession charge.

"He's in jail," Prieto said. "He's not going anywhere. We're going to be able to talk to him."

Records showed that Gonzalez was charged last month for an assault on a family member.

The couple, who met in church, have been married for about two years, according to family members.

Neighbors said that they were shocked to learn about the buried body.

"It's very tragic," neighbor Rose Phillips said. "The whole community is in shock." Miguel Gonzalez

Phillips said that she lives across the street from Estrada, who has lived in this neighborhood for 10 years.

Last Friday, the woman's daughter knocked on her door in tears, asking to use her phone, Phillips said.

"She said that they called and got no answer," Phillips said. "And so, she was over there knocking on the door and got no response at all. She said that is highly unlike her mom."

Estrada is the mother of three daughters and has two grandchildren.

Her family said that she has such a big heart that she converted her garage into a guest room so people she met through her church who did not have a home could stay there.

The case is under investigation.
