HOUSTON -- A cyclist died when he was hit by a car on Saturday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Harris County sheriff's deputies said three people were riding bikes northbound on Stokes Road near Waller Spring Creek Road at about 8:45 a.m.
One of the riders noticed a Nissan Altima was quickly approaching on Waller Spring Creek Road and yelled "car left" to alert the rider in the front of the line, investigators said.
It was too late. The car hit the rider, who was thrown into a ditch, detectives said. He died at the scene. His name was not released.
Officials said the rider was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the car was identified at Mike Ortega. Investigators have not said if he will face any charges.
