HOUSTON -- A toll booth worker was robbed while working in southwest Houston, KPRC Local 2 reported Tuesday.
Investigators said the crook drove up to the full-service booth on West Sam Houston Parkway South at Briar Forest just after 1 p.m., got out of his vehicle and pulled a gun on the female worker.
The robber then took the money drawer.
"He ordered the collector in the booth to give him the money. At which time, he grabbed the cash drawer, got back in the red Dodge minivan and proceeded north towards I-10," said Capt. Terry Allbritton with the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office.
Investigators said surveillance video was able to get pictures of the robber. The vehicle was described as a newer model red Dodge minivan.
"This has happened in the past, but it's a very rare occurrence, which is why we are passing it along to the media. It's not something that happens very often on the toll road. We're passing it along to the collectors that this can occur and to take precautions," Allbritton said.
The worker was not injured.
"We try to never let our guard down, but there are occurrences that seem to happen closer to the holidays," Allbritton said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's Office at 281-492-6666.
