Eastex Freeway Near San Jacinto Wreck

Police said a big-rig driver went around another vehicle in the 2600 block of Interstate 10 East near San Jacinto when she lost control of the rig, swerved across all lanes, jackknifed and slammed into a concrete pillar at about 3:30 a.m.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman, died at the scene. Her name was not released.

Police said she was not wearing her seatbelt. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Lanes were closed for more than 11 hours.

The truck was carrying a load of chips and salsa.
