HOUSTON -- Wet weather moved into the Houston area early Friday and is expected to stick around most of the day, KPRC Local 2 reported.
A flash flood watch is in effect until 6 p.m.
"It is one of those challenging kind of days, " KPRC Local 2's Khambrel Marshall said. "A flood watch is in place along the coastal counties. (We) also have a coastal flood warning and a gale warning, as well. We do expect the wind to be above 30 knots."
Keep your umbrella handy. But, the severe weather is expected to remain south of Interstate 10.
"To the north, you don't see much going on. You see rain and some of it moderate, but not very much in the heavy rain," Marshall said. "The broader area will get rain and some of it heavier throughout the day."
By 11 a.m., the most severe weather was over the Gulf.
"It's a little break before we have some more heavier rain this afternoon," Marshall said. "Over in San Antonio, they've got flood warnings. We expect (those storms) to work their way toward us. We do have an opportunity for more rain (Friday) afternoon."
Two to 4 inches of rain is expected along the coast and 5 to 7 inches is forecast in some isolated spots.
Friday's high is expected to reach 65 degrees.
"The seven-day forecast calls for us to cool off a little bit. We have a good chance of the rain dropping off by Saturday afternoon," Marshall said.
