HOUSTON -- A fourth-grader was nearly abducted on his way to a southeast Houston school, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Cornelius Elementary Principal Karen Jackson said a man grabbed a boy off of his bike and attempted to drag him toward a driveway on Tuesday morning.
"The student was able to escape unharmed," Jackson said.
Jackson said the boy described his attacker as Hispanic with an average build and a distinguishing mustache. He was last seen wearing a black Nike jogging suit and blue jogging shoes.
The Houston Independent School District Police Department has added extra patrols in the area of the school.
"I don't feel it's safe," parent Domingo Chavez said about his son walking alone to school. "Every day I come, I go all the way to the classroom. I don't like him to walk."
Jackson reminded parents that students should walk in groups and run away from strangers.
"It means we have to be on guard and watch our surroundings," parent Barbara Jordan said.
