Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the deaths of a man and a woman found Saturday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Investigators said the bodies were found at 6301 West Bellfort Street in southwest Houston on Saturday evening.

The identities of the victims are pending verification by the Harris County medical examiner's office.

"An apartment tenant returned home after several days out of town and discovered a foul odor upon opening the front door," Houston Police Department homicide division Sergeant B. Williams and officer M. Khan reported.

Police said the tenant called for police, and officers discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside one of the bedrooms of the apartment.

The causes of death were not apparent at the scene, investigators said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
