MISSOURI CITY, Texas -- A would-be robber has been shot and two others are on the loose, police told KPRC Local 2.
Missouri City police said a 20-year-old man was working on a car outside his home in the 1800 block of Glen Wild at about 2:30 p.m.
Police said three men pulled up in a car and two got out with a rifle. The two threatened the man and demanded money, officials said.
The man told the pair he didn't have any money and they forced him into the house, investigators said.
"Our victim was able to obtain a weapon that he had in the house," Capt. John Bailey said. "At this time is when the tables turned. Our victim did get a hold of a pistol and started shooting at our suspects. One of our suspects was hit multiple times. He ran out of the residence where he fell here in the driveway."
The wounded man was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital with at least one gunshot wound to the head.
Investigators said the other robber ran back outside and got into the car with the third man. They drove away in a gold Toyota Avalon, police said.
Descriptions of the men have not been released.
Some marijuana was found in the house, police said. Officials said they aren't sure who it belongs to or if it had anything to do with the attack.
All Stafford Municipal Independent Schools were told to shelter in place for a while, but that order has since been lifted.
