HOUSTON -- When Juanita Black celebrated her 105th birthday last month, she toasted what she calls her key to longevity.
Miss Juanita told KPRC Local 2, "I don't drink coffee or anything. I drink green tea. I love it!"
Her granddaughter, Amy Black, asked her, "How long have you been drinking green tea?"
Granny answered, "How long? Oh I don't know -- a long, long time."
Tales of Juanita's youthful spirit and her birthday trip to a local strip club went coast-to-coast from CNN to Perez Hilton.
She caught the attention of Judah Sanders, CEO of Dragon Pearl Whole Teas, a California company about 100 miles north of Santa Barbara, which grows tea organically without pesticides or chemicals.
Judah flew in to serve hot tea to Juanita in the same tradition as great emperors would have received more than 1,000 years ago.
He told Local 2, "We saw that she was loving green tea and we thought we need to be a part of this. We need to give her some tea and get her going with the very best tea."
Juanita and her granddaughter Amy enjoyed the royal treatment.
Amy Black said, "All my friends drink green tea because she's 105 and she's told us the trick, and she's got everybody drinking it, so this is really great that Dragon Pearl came out to give us some green tea. It might help her live even longer."
Sanders explained, "We wanted her to live to 110 or 115 and this is the way (Juanita's) going to do it -- by having very clean, very pure tea."
The owners of Dragon Pearl Whole Teas said they plan to keep supplying Miss Juanita with all the green tea she can drink and as you can imagine, she's pretty happy about that.
