TEMPLE, Texas -- Texans touched by the shooting rampage at Fort Hood went to a Temple, Texas, hospital in droves to donate blood to the wounded, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Scott and White Hospital officials said 10 of the wounded were taken to their hospital's emergency room. Some arrived by ambulance and others by helicopter. Officials said some were in intensive care with multiple gunshot wounds while others were recuperating in stable condition.
The hospital asked for blood and got a tremendous response. Wait times to donate reached four hours.
People traveled from Waco, Austin and Killeen to give back to the men and women who volunteer to serve and protect the United States of America.
"Our soldiers shed their blood for us," one person said. "I give mine for them."
