A 6-year-old girl killed by a suspected drunken driver will be honored during a memorial walk and candlelight vigil, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.

Makaylin Angel will be remembered at the spot where she was killed, Huffsmith Kohrrville at Cossey Road in Northwest Harris County. The ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

On Monday night, Makaylin was walking with her grandmother and 4-year-old sister, when an out-of-control SUV driven by Larry Womack, 62, came barreling toward them, according to the Harris County Sherriff's Office.

Makaylin's grandmother, Sheryl Edwards, managed to push the 4-year-old to safety, but she could not reach Makaylin in time. Makaylin was hit and died at the scene.

"The only thing that could go through my mind, was, 'Oh my God. He it my baby. He hit my baby," said Edwards.

Womack was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

"Right now I'm hoping he survives so I can put him behind bars," said Edwards.

Womack has three previous convictions for driving while intoxicated.
